Job description:

General Role Purpose (brief description of this job)

Assists Warehouse Supervisor by leading warehouse associates in daily operations.

Qualifications (required for job) & Knowledge & Experience

  • University Degree preferred, Diploma or Certificate in Inventory and Warehouse Management required.
  • 5 years of progressive work experience in warehouse operations and logistics management, preferably in a mining environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability to function and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment is essential.
  • Knowledge of any ERP system and JDE Oracle will be advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office application.
  • Proficient in project management.

Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables 

  • Oversee the real time shift operations and strive to consistently deliver and exceed the main KPI of efficient and timely receipt, managed storage, and issue of warehouse items. 
  • Supervise and perform warehouse activities for goods and materials including (but not limited to) the following:
    • Receive and review materials, spare parts and other supplies that enter the warehouse.
    • Confirm the items that enter the warehouse are recorded and in the management system.
    • Ensure that the items are efficiently warehoused to enable rapid location as required.
    • Assist with the location and preparation of picked items for collection.
    • Monitor inspect and report on the condition of warehoused items and material
    • Undertake regular stocktakes, inventories and audits of warehoused items and materials reporting any irregularities in stock counts or the condition of items.
  • Operate as required, inspect and report on the condition of equipment used in the warehouse.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the warehouse, wider Commercial team, and all areas of the Operation.
  • Ensure timely and direct communication with end users.
  • Undertake nominated training activities to maintain and up-skill required competencies.
  • Control, report and reduce operational costs, and ensure cost consideration taken with all decisions.
  • Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
  • Strictly comply with HSE procedures and standards in particular a high standard of housekeeping.
  • Adherence to all FQM Cobre Panama policies and procedures.
  • Assist and/or carry out logistical activities, such as transportation and/or driving of vehicles, personnel, materials, equipment and supplies to and from work areas, camps and other company facilities, as required by the supervisor.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

Operational Requirements

Cobre Panama is a remote site. This exciting position is based on-site and will be focusing on driving and delivering operational accountability and ownership across various units at Cobre Panama site. Rosters and working hours may vary depending on business requirements.

Environmental Responsibilities

  • Comply with current environmental regulations in Panama
  • Comply with the commitments contained in the Environmental Impact Studies and other additional studies in this regard, which apply to your area and activities.
  • Comply with the provisions of the Minera Panama Environmental Management System.
