Job description:

General Role Purpose

This position work in all MPSA tax and tax reporting matters including preparation of provisional and final corporate tax returns and mining royalties returns, transfer pricing regulation, ITBMS returns and reimbursement requests, and associated compliance matters, conducting relevant tax research and preparation of tax position papers.

Qualifications & Knowledge & Experience

• University degree in Law/Economics/Accounting/Finance
• A professional accounting designation.
• a minimum of 5 or more years work experience in corporate taxation.
• excellent knowledge of the Panamanian tax law.
• very good knowledge of tax reporting.
• ability to manage fiscal authority audits.
• experience with accounting systems and understanding of financial statements.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• the ability to organize and prioritize work and be deadline-oriented with an attention to detail.
• A team player with an ability to work closely with others and contribute to team objectives.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal with people at all levels both internally and outside the organization.

• Adherence to the highest ethical standards, demonstrating accountability, integrity and transparency in actions at all times.
• Language: English fluency is required
• Proficiency in Excel and Power BI would be a plus.

Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables 

• Prepare tax provisions schedules, returns, payments, reports
  • Income Tax (Current / Deferred)
  • Mining Royalty
  • Transfer Pricing
  • ITBMS & ITBMS tax credit requests
  • Withholding Taxes (Income Tax / ITBMS)
  • Purchases/Sales reports
  • Any other tax reporting requirement
• Identify legal/tax best practices and recommend ways to implement them
• Make sure that the company comply with international and local tax regulations
• Advise management about the impact of new tax regulations and strategies
• Attend internal tax advise requests
• Accurately prepare quarterly and annual tax reports
• Improve automation of tax related reports, getting the best of ERP functionality
• Maintain company’s tax database
• Coordinate outsourced tax preparation work
• Management of fiscal authority audits.
• Keep up-to-date with tax changes and industry trends by participating in educational opportunities, participating in professional organizations, keeping up with professional networks and reading professional publications

Operational Requirements

This exciting position is based in Panama City office in Torre de las Americas.

Environmental Responsibilities

• Comply with current environmental regulations in Panama
• Comply with the commitments contained in the Environmental Impact Studies and other additional studies in this regard, which apply to your area and activities.
• Comply with the provisions of the Minera Panama Environmental Management System.
