General Role Purpose :
As a Senior Hydrogeologist at the Taca Taca Copper Mining Project, you will be responsible for leading hydrogeological assessments, groundwater analysis, and overseeing projects related to water management in a challenging environment at an altitude of 3,600 meters. You will work closely with the geology and environmental teams to ensure the sustainability and efficiency of mining operations.
Qualifications & Knowledge & Experience
At least 10 years of professional experience in projects related to hydrogeology.
Degree in Geology (mandatory). A postgraduate degree in Hydrogeology is desirable.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Proficiency in basic computer tools (MS Office suite) and specialized software: Geographic Information Systems, Database Management, static geological/hydrogeological modeling (Leapfrog), and interpretation of hydraulic tests.
Ability to solve complex problems and make well-founded decisions based on hydrogeological data.
Commitment to teamwork, interdisciplinary collaboration, and continuous professional development.
Availability to work in an office in Salta with occasional trips to the high-altitude puna region. Based in Salta.
Proven ability to develop innovative approaches to problem-solving.
Proactive mindset with ownership of assigned tasks.
Experience in driving 4×4 vehicles, with a valid driver’s license.
Experience and physical condition suitable for working at high altitudes (>3,000 meters above sea level).
Leadership skills in managing teams and projects.
Experience in the development and use of conceptual (mandatory) and numerical (desirable) groundwater models.
Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables
Ensure compliance with all relevant and applicable laws of Argentina and the Province of Salta.
Maintain HSE standards and ensure strict adherence to protocols at the project site.
Design and lead hydrogeological, geophysical, geotechnical, and geological campaigns, ensuring that contractors or assigned personnel collect high-quality, goal-focused, and cost-effective data.
Experience with groundwater exploration campaigns in the Puna environment, including both geophysical surveys and drilling.
Expertise in groundwater abstraction design and analysis, hydrogeological and environmental monitoring, interpretation of surface geophysics (geoelectrical methods), design and interpretation of hydraulic tests, water sampling, and hydrogeochemical monitoring.
Conceptual groundwater flow modeling, pumping test data analysis, contaminant migration analysis, and water balance generation.
Management of sectoral permits with relevant authorities.
Work in a multidisciplinary manner with other staff members and contractors to achieve shared goals.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external sector networks (communities, authorities, suppliers, colleagues).
Support the area leader in preparing budgets for hydrogeological characterization campaigns, as well as technical reports and presentations.
Prepare high-quality geological and hydrogeological reports on a regular basis, including maps, sections, and quantitative progress of various projects.
Supervise workgroup tasks, including technical staff and field hydrogeologists, ensuring that assigned tasks are completed as required.
Oversee the digital data entry for all projects into servers, ensuring information is validated and up to date.
Ensure compliance (both personal and team) with corporate policies, internal labor regulations, occupational health standards, and all internal, national, and international regulations.
Delegate tasks effectively to assigned personnel.
